License points for distracted driving (AB47)
This law requires DMV to assess a negligent operator point on a driver’s record for a second conviction within 36 months of talking, texting, or using a handheld wireless communications device (cell phone) while driving.

Unattended Children in Motor Vehicles (AB2717)
Exempts a person from civil or criminal liability for trespassing or damaging a vehicle when rescuing a child who is 6 years old or younger and who is in immediate danger from heat, cold, lack of ventilation, or other dangerous circumstances.

Emergency Vehicles (SB909)
Updates to California’s “Move Over, Slow Down” law will extend to local streets and roads, not just freeways, starting January 1, 2021. California drivers will now be required to slow down or change lanes while approaching stationary emergency vehicles flashing their lights, including first responder vehicles, tow trucks, and Caltrans vehicles.

Our client a minor was traveling on a gas scooter in a residential area when the motor vehicle operator made a right turn onto a street and the incident occurred. Initially, the insurance company denied the claim and placed our client at fault. The insurance company argued that the police report has placed our client at fault, our client was underage and not allowed to operate a gas scooter under California law, and finally, the insurance company argued that our client failed to stop therefore our client caused the accident. However, after continuous research, we were able to refute all their arguments and obtain an amazing result for our client.

California requires drivers to maintain a 15/30/5 liability insurance (that is the minimum). The minimum coverage is if the insured is at fault for an auto accident, the insurer will pay up to:

$15,000.00 for bodily injuries for an individual
$5,000.00 property damage to other vehicles
$30,000.00 for total bodily injuries for all the people in the other vehicle

Uninsured or Underinsured coverage pays when another driver is at fault but either has no insurance at all or does not carry enough insurance coverage to cover the injured party’s medical bills and other losses.
